Insight: The maxillary sinus limits the amount of bone available for implant placement in the posterior region. As a result, implant placement is confined to the anterior region, and the AP spread that can be achieved is often limited. If the AP spread is inadequate to provide support, a full-palatal-coverage overlay denture is often recommended.
